The movie was filmed before September 11 (the PUNK penthouse is two blocks away from Ground Zero), but the filmmakers were interested in the location because of its proximity to a different New York landmark: The movie's silly plot involves a time warp accessible only by jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge. (For out-of-towners: Ground Zero is very close to the Brooklyn Bridge, which can also be seen from the PUNK rooftop.) The movie doesn't make much sense, it's not very funny, and it's typical of the problems plaguing today's movies. It's just another uninspired, unoriginal formula date movie/chick flick. All in all though, the PUNK magazine rooftop does a great job of looking romantic and exciting. This was mostly because the set dressers added fake skylights and the other nice decorations added to make our crummy, old rooftop look like the most romantic place to eat in New York City. And amazingly it works! It's one of the reasons so many people have been asking if they can attend a PUNK Listening Party... (They've been suspended for a few months until the next issue can be put together, but we have a few left over from 2001 we'll be posting here in the future.) |
